I may sound a little naive here, but I really thought “girl talk” (talk among little girls) was mostly appropriate, and dainty, and girlie. My writer friend posts about her young boys, and the many off-color “boy” jokes they share. I laugh every time I read her posts, but deep down, I’m a little thankful I have girls.
Don’t get me wrong, we find lots to laugh and tease about, but it’s different. Gross topics of conversation don’t come up very often. My girls rarely create weird noises with their mouths to make each other laugh. And potty talk doesn’t get much of a response.
Until today.
While running some errands, Izzy tells me the following joke.
Mom, have you ever seen the movie, Constipated?
Um, no.
That’s because it never came out.
Get it?
Sometimes off-color, gross, and slightly inappropriate are just fine. And maybe needed to get through the day.
Good one, Izzy.
Oh, yes, you definitely have girls if that’s the worst of your jokes! I won’t even go into what my Bubba says, but I’ll rat myself out here. I was putting away laundry in our little closet tonight when Micayla came up from behind and made what sounded like tooting noises. She completely scared me and I in my wisdom screamed, “what are you doing, you farting freak?” Yup. That one got a little too much air time. 🙂
Oh Stacy, that’s a hoot! Thanks for sharing.
