Spoiled for Mother’s Day
“So, Mom, are you excited for Mother’s Day?”
“I am.”
I look over at my sweet 12 year old. She’s beaming. I can sense the excitement she has about spoiling her momma for Mother’s Day. I nonchalantly throw this humble statement out there.
“But you know you don’t have to get me a gift for Sunday. You girls and Daddy already gave me a beautiful set of dishes.”
“Oh no, Mom. Izzy and I have things we are going to buy you. We just need to find a time for Dad to take us shopping.”
Tears are welling in my eyes. I’m choked up just thinking how blessed I am with two amazing daughters who want to spend their hard earned allowance on me. Blessed indeed.
“That is so sweet of you girls. To spend your own money on me.”
“Um, no. We are saving our money for vacation. We’re going to ask Dad to buy the gifts for us, and then we’ll give them to you.”
Hmm. Okay. (Long pause)
(Still pausing)
I have no words.
Smile! Smile! Lol! MOM
I love her honesty!
